The Overton Retreat timber frame completed in 2004 is a truly unique one. Nestled around a 30-acre spring-fed mountain lake in McMinnville, Tennessee, this retreat is surrounded on the east and west by mountain bluffs affording breathtaking panoramas. The timber frames are based on mathematical formulas, derived from the architectural inspiration of Chip Webster & Associates. The circular form was used to emphasize the concept of community and provides a sense of enclosure. There were approximately 250 timbers in the two frames. 96 Purlins were used in the structure and every one was unique and compound. Projects like this timber frame reaffirm our love of this ancient craft and our commitment to the custom approach. |
